It's been seven months since FNL
was last on the air, and what have we missed most? Minka Kelly,
Adrianne Palicki, and Aimee Teegarden. They’ve apparently missed each
other, too. It takes ten minutes to get through all the dog talk
(“Chewy’s one of the cutest dogs ever!”) and on to the stuff that matters.
Your co-star Taylor Kitsch is a lucky man. I think he’s kissed each of you on-air, right?
Minka: Even the guest stars—everyone gets a shot. The guys like to
tease Taylor because people seem to think he’s a heartthrob. But they
know better. They know how bad he smells.
Adrianne: And how much makeup he has to go through in the morning to get that pretty.

ET Canada caught up with Taylor at the TCA All-Star Party last week-end. Here's a brief recap of the segment that aired earlier this evening...
"Friday Night Lights" resident hunk Taylor Kitsch, has officially stolen super hero status thanks to his upcoming film with Hugh Jackman.
"Pretty tired. I'm not gonna lie, I'm tired right now."
It's no wonder Taylor Kitsch has been working non-stop between the big and small screen, including a role in the upcoming X-Men Wolverine.
"It was a lot of fun. I learned a lot working with Hugh Jackman and Liev. It was just incredible. I'm super excited just to be a part of a project like that, you know?"
Playing a master thief (Gambit) was new to this hunky 27 year old from Vancouver.
"The character is so much fun. It's gonna be fun to watch."
We can catch Taylor on the show that sky rocketed him into fame, Friday Night Lights, soon to be back for another season.
"I can't wait to play Riggs one more go at least, you know? It's a comfort zone, it's soo free, it's so...Riggs is a lot of fun, you know? I hope you guys have a lot of fun watching him again this year."
Despite his hectic schedule, Taylor managed to sneak in a visit home two weeks ago, and says - "There's nothing like supportive family and friends."
"It's just funny you know, you just catch up and you're just...I feel like I haven't missed a beat either though, when I catch up with friends. And that says a lot, you know?"

Jackman on Taylor Kitsch as Gambit: “I can say it. He’s sexy, right?
He’s a little bit like a junior Wolverine in a way. He’s a little bit
of a wise guy. He’s an outsider. He’s got some issues himself. He’s
mischievous. He’s cheeky. He’s a bit of a badass. We have a really
great fight sequence. Physically that guy is an animal. He was chucking
himself around on the concrete. He has that passion that I remember
having when I first did Wolverine. There was no way a stunt double was
doing anything for him.”

20th Century Fox offered a special treat today for fans attending the
studio's movies presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con with a first
look at next year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, complete with an appearance by Logan himself, star Hugh Jackman.
The Gavin Hood-directed spin-off recounts Wolverine's exploits before
he joined the X-Men. The prequel stars Liev Schreiber as Victor Creed
(a.k.a. Sabretooth), Danny Huston as William Stryker, Dominic Monaghan
as Beak, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, and
Will.i.am as Wraith.
Jackman surprised the crowd with his "unscheduled" appearance, telling
the fans that the movie had literally just wrapped filming and thanking
them for all the success he's had thanks to Wolverine. He then came
down off the stage to meet Wolverine creator Len Wein and shake his
hand.
Jackman then presented "bad ass" exclusive full of "beserker rage"
footage from the movie, which he also produced. And we can confirm that
it was indeed bad ass.
The trailer-like sequence opens with Logan and Creed in a military
prison cell where they survived execution by firing squad for
decapitating a senior officer. They are met by Colonel William Stryker,
who offers them a chance to serve their country by taking part in the
Weapon X program. We then saw glimpses of the team's different members:
Blob, Deadpool. Wraith and, in perhaps the biggest mass geekgasm Hall H
has ever heard, Gambit.
We then see Logan in the tank where he undergoes the adamantium
process, awakening in a beserker rage and slashing down a number of
guards. Stryker then calls on Creed, clad in a black trenchcoat and
black outfit, to hunt down his old Army buddy Logan. You can imagine
how that turns out.
We also got lots of Danny Huston as William Stryker and, to the great
joy of the crowd, several shots of Taylor Kitsch, whose arrival as
Gambit already seems to be yielding salivation.
The footage showed Gambit tossing his trademark cards and riding a
motorcycle.
There was plenty of shots from a chase sequence between
Wolverine on a motorcycle, Army trucks and a helicopter. The wartime
sequences appear to be set in the Vietnam era, with the New Zealand
countryside doubling for Southeast Asia.
Jackman, who had just gotten off a plane from Australia, did not take
any questions but thanked the fans profusely for all they've done for
his career.

Heading into their third season, the cast members of the long-threatened NBC drama "Friday Night Lights" said today that they acutely feel the gratitude that comes with being pulled back from the brink of cancellation.
“It was sort of like we were thrown a life ring,” actor Kyle Chandler said of the deal NBC struck with DirecTV to split the series' production costs and distribution rights. "I feel like it's a brand new show."
As part of the agreement, the satellite provider gets to air the new
13-episode season of “Friday Night Lights” this October before it
debuts in February on the broadcast network.
“When the opportunity came up, we jumped right on it,” said Eric
Shanks, executive vice president of entertainment for DirecTV, a
self-professed fan of the show who said Chandler’s Coach Taylor “has
enormously impacted how I raise my child.”
When the series airs Wednesdays on DirecTV’s 101 Network, each
episode will be paired with a 30-minute live call-in show, in which
fans can talk with actors from the show.
Because “Friday Nights Lights” will air on such different platforms,
producers are considering creating two distinct versions of each
episode to take advantage of having a longer run time and fewer content
restrictions on satellite.
“Potentially, there could be a version of the show that airs on
DirecTV that’s different from the one on NBC, and each version would
have something to recommend it,” said executive producer Jason Katims.

The cast and crew of television football drama Friday Night Lights will kick off production in Austin once again on August 6th.
The critically acclaimed show, set in the fictional football-lovin’
small town of Dillon, Texas, has struggled in the ratings game, but
like any good underdog it retains a fervent fan base.
The last two seasons of FNL, filmed in Austin, have included cameos of local hangouts and landmarks such as the Alamo Deafthouse on South Lamar, Trophy's, Cheapo Discs, and the Broken Spoke. Expect to see more of Austin when season three begins airing on NBC next February.
Can't wait to catch quarterback cutie Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford),
Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler), and the gang? A new deal struck between
the network and DirectTV will give FNL super-fans a sneak peak at season three with episodes airing October 1. And you might be able to spot some the FNL
cast (like Taylor Kitsch, Minka Kelly and Jesse Plemons) in person, as
they usually hit the Austin hotspots around South Congress.

From The Watcher...
I interviewed Taylor Kitsch after the session, he had
just returned from a trip to Africa with Connie Britton and toured
Uganda and Kenya and become more aware of a charity called the African
Children's Choir. I hope to post more on that interview soon, in which
he also discussed his role in the film "X4."
Also, Kitsch is now calling Kyle Chandler "Chans" and Connie Britton "Cons."

From Terry Morrow's Tinseltown Tales...
My best friend from last summer's press tour -- Taylor Kitsch of
"Friday Night Lights" -- and I sat down together, and he was very high
on his work on "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." He plays Gambit of the X-Men
in the film that stars Hugh Jackman. As for the fate of "FNL", Taylor
is optimistic but used to the drill. The show has been on the brink of
death more than once so he's used to preparing for whatever may come.
The show is moving to DirecTV in the fall and will premiere a third
season on NBC in early 2009. Taylor is actually one of my favorite
people -- and he says he's not settled down yet. He's focused on his
work and not his love life.
