NBC's "Friday Night Lights" are shining brighter.
A day before the freshman series' season finale, the network ordered six additional scripts of the critically praised but low rated series.
While this is short of the early second-season order NBC recently bestowed on another acclaimed but ratings-challenged freshman series, comedy "30 Rock," the additional script order strengthens "Friday'"s chances for a return next season.
Friday" is the second NBC series on the bubble to receive a six-script order this week, following a similar pickup for veteran "Medium" Monday.
Friday," from Imagine TV, NBC Universal TV Studio and Film 44, is an adaptation of the 2004 feature. Kyle Chandler leads the ensemble cast of the football-themed drama, which recently won a Peabody Award.

Taylor was named one of TV Guide's "TV's Sexiest Stars!" Coming in at number 5! Pick up your copy of TV Guide on stands now.
Taylor also sat down with Maureen Ryan from the Chicago Tribune. The article was published on the Chicago Tribune website :
It seems as though there are a bunch of articles about the show popping up
lately.
“Yeah, and I think too, the show’s getting better. The writers, just
everything. Everyone has a better feel for their characters, at least I do.
Inside out. You’re just not second guessing stuff. Everyone has that confidence
going into scenes, and you can see it.
“I’ve been on other stuff where I feel like I’m in a box, you can’t even
change a line. If I have an idea with this show, I’m going to talk to [Jeffrey]
Reiner, even showing up to the set with an idea, they have no problem with. If
it’s going to work, they’re going to go after it. We’re so free to adlib and go
off book and react. Everyone’s still on the page where we feel like the show is
so great, and no one is acting for themselves. It’s, ‘What can we do to make
this scene great?’ |

It's fourth and long for the critically acclaimed football drama, as ''Friday Night Lights'' battles to stay both on the field and on the air.
It's a perfect twilight evening in Del Valle, a quiet stretch on the outskirts of Austin, Texas. The glowing dark blue sky is illuminated by the lighting of the impeccable green football stadium — a field recently refurbished from a sagging, waist-high weed trap near a dingy trailer park. Here the actors, directors, producers, and crew of Friday Night Lights are living out the story of their own TV show: Every week, a hardy band of headstrong youngsters and stressed adults comes together in this small Texas town to face down the competition. |
